This is by far my favorite piece. You certainly have talent for painting. Any tips for a person who is let's just say lackluster at painting? lol

tips.. lol
well.. i'd say the most important thing about paintings is lighting and form, light defines form and objects. do studying and understanding the mechanics of lighting is ultra important. really get to know the basics of highlight, reflective light, core shadows and cast shadows as they will help you build a solid shape and form. practice painting gray scale is a great way to focus on just lighting and nothing else. do so digitally is even quicker.
another thing that applies to environment paintings is the push and pull of depth, or value perspective, which means more contrast for objects in front of you and lesser contrast for objects further away, haze is quite useful cause it adds instant depth to the picture..
and of coures.. lots of practice..
