I don't know if it's because of the rather dark colors and few contrast you use, but your pictures look a little depressing... in a good way
I like it ^^
and i think the old school look was a success (=
Are you ready? I hate to be the misfit, but IMO does not really show what you're capable of. Perhaps it is the new style that you're trying. The brushwork isn't as tight. And the buildings are left to a giant muck of gray. My favorite moments are the depth (as usual you nail that) of the buildings. The front one being the darkest, and then the one in the background with the blue-ish windows. Fantastic. The character also feels a lot more connected to this piece than some of your others. Sometimes the charact pops just a bit differently because they're drawn differently instead of being treated as the same piece. This s not apparent in this piece.
Props on working w/o a reference and binding the setting and character together. And the idea of the statues on the building pop instantly. Good job.
i think one thing tha twould help me would be some tightening up on the closest car.
This seems like a doodle for you though. I hope you drive this style further, because I think you get a greater sense of consistency in approach. I've seen some of your other stuff that's taken just as long or a little over (hard to remember all of your pieces) but thought, 'how the hell did he do that so fast?'
